BOMBANANA! Beginner Guide: Your First Five Bombs
Your first hour in BOMBANANA! decides whether your team builds fast habits or slow ones. This beginner guide walks through your first five bombs: which mode to start in, how to run the mute-deaf-blind relay, and the one vocabulary rule that prevents most early failures.
Bomb 1: Cable Only, No Timer Pressure
Set up a Custom bomb with only Cable panels and enable the no-timed-input accessibility option. One player takes each role. Run the full loop slowly: deaf player describes the panel, asks the mute player a yes or no question, reads the nod, speaks the instruction.
The goal of bomb one is not speed. It is proving to yourselves that a nod can carry a complete answer.
Bomb 2-3: Fix Your Vocabulary
Most beginner failures are vocabulary failures. Before bomb two, agree out loud: numbers count from the left, colors are named exactly as the manual prints them, and 'the panel' always means the one the blind player is touching.
Ban the phrases 'that one', 'over there' and 'the usual'. They feel natural and they destroy braille-precise answers.
Bomb 4: Add a Second Module
Add a second panel type - Calculator is a good next step because it forces the mute player to nod a two-part answer. Learn to nod each part separately; one long sentence is where relays break.
The deaf player should re-describe the panel after every action. Stale answers kill more bombs than hard rules.
Bomb 5: Enter the Campaign
Start the 30-level campaign only when the relay feels boring - when answers flow without anyone thinking about the process. Early campaign levels are short by design; they are your real tutorial.
From here, the levels page tells you when new modules arrive, and the modules page has the per-panel rules your mute player will be nodding about.
